Here in the United States, it’s Veterans Day, a national holiday honoring military veterans. My dad is a WWII veteran and my brothers were Vietnam veterans. I’m sure most of you know a vet, and today is the day to thank them. No matter what your political beliefs may be, these men and women have risked their lives defending our country. They, and their families, give up so much for us, and they deserve a hearty thank you.
So to all the men and women who have served (and are serving) in the armed forces, and to their families, THANK YOU.
One last note for inquisitive people or those obsessed with grammar: Wikipedia explains the elusive apostrophe in Veterans Day.
The holiday is commonly printed as Veteran’s Day or Veterans’ Day in calendars and advertisements. While these spellings are grammatically acceptable, the United States government has declared that the attributive (no apostrophe) rather than the possessive case is the official spelling.
Now you know!
What are you grateful for today?
